Luxury at Sofitel Queenstown

Queenstown's only five-star hotel, the Sofitel Queenstown, has been named among the top 20 hotels in the world by prestigious Australian travel magazine Gourmet Traveller.

It ranks alongside hotels from all around the world - including the Four Seasons Resort in Malaysia, Le Petit Moulin in France, Singapore's Hotel 1929, the Landmark Mandarin Oriental in China, Parker Palm Springs in the US, The Chedi Muscat in Oman and Hotel Endsleigh in the UK.

Travel writer Christine McCabe says the hotel brings "a touch of Parisian style" to the lively ski town.

She describes it as a "hotel with smarts", with rooms equipped with high-tech everything.  It's the little touches that endear, such as a proper coffee maker, a tempting room service menu and utterly divine flowers. The small Vie restaurant is a showcase for New Zealand's clean, green produce and Central Otago pinots," she says.
