Course Description
Surrounded by lush farmland and stunning views over the Hauraki Gulf, the course is modelled on the Augusta National, home of the US Masters and was the venue for the 1998 New Zealand Open.
Listed in The Finest Golf Clubs of the World, Formosa covers an area of 440 acres and has panoramic views of Waiheke Island and Rangitoto from its cliff top and coastal fairways, along which hundreds of pohutukawa trees and palms have been planted. Sixteen of the course's holes have northerly views of the Hauraki Gulf and its many islands. The 11th to the 16th holes run along a cliff top overlooking the shoreline.
The course caters for golfers of all abilities. Demanding enough for the skilled golfer, it is also suitable for a relaxed, friendly, or corporate challenge and may be played year round.
The course is also one of the longest courses in New Zealand at over 6600 metres (7200) yards from the professional tees and features the first couch grass fairways in this country, providing a durable and attractive all year playing surface..

The clubhouse includes all the usual amenities, such as mens' and womens' changing rooms, lockers and storage areas for clubs. The Pro Shop caters to the golfer with practice greens and all weather under cover driving range. It also offers a quality range of apparel and souvenirs as well as everyday golfing accessories.
