Day 2: Auckland to the Bay of Islands At the beginning of your journey today, you'll drive over the Auckland Harbour Bridge towards the bays and beaches of Auckland's North Shore. The motorway will quickly sweep you northward, until the suburban scenery gives way to peaceful farmland. You then enjoy spectacular scenery of native forests and sub-tropical bush as you make your way to Paihia in the Bay of Islands.
Day 3: Cape Brett 'Hole in the Rock' Cruise Experience the natural wonders, stunning scenery and learn about the cultural significance of this unique part of New Zealand on a spectacular four hour cruise to Cape Brett and the iconic Hole in the Rock. Enjoy the views as you cruise past the Cape Brett Lighthouse, before arriving at the majestic Hole in the Rock - hold your breath as the skipper navigates through the narrow space and admire the rock walls which soar above you. You then take in the Grand Cathedral Cave before heading back into the sheltered waters of the Bay. Day 4: Bay of Islands to Auckland Today enjoy a leisurely drive back to Auckland via the East Coast of the North Island and through Auckland’s northern suburbs.
Day 5: Auckland, Waitomo Caves, Rotorua Suburban scenery gradually gives way to the farmland of South Auckland. The Waikato River will then accompany you for much of your journey through the green countryside to reach Hamilton before continuing south to reach the Waitomo Caves region. Here your guided tour will take you through over 250 metres of stunning underground scenery commencing with the impressive Cathedral Cavern. Then marvel at Mother Nature's light display as you glide silently through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto. Later you travel through a mixture of farmland, lakeland and forest to reach the geothermal city of Rotorua.
Day 6: Rotorua Sightseeing & Maori Cultural Encounter A fun filled morning is in store as you discover three of Rotorua's best attractions! Your pass includes The Agrodome Sheep Show, an exciting and informative insight into the world of New Zealand agriculture. You then visit Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park which offers great features including kiwi, trout, tuatara, pigs, sheep, native birds and trees and New Zealand's only 'open to view' kiwi hatchery and rearing facility. End your activities with a visit to Te Puia, the premier Maori cultural centre in New Zealand - a place of gushing waters, steaming vents, boiling mud pools and spectacular geysers. This evening you enjoy an unforgettable cultural experience at Mitai Maori Village. See Maori warriors paddling down stream by waka (ancient war canoe), followed by Maori cultural performance, succulent hangi meal, tranquil bush walk, glow worm viewing, and visit to sacred Fairy Spring. Day 7: Rotorua to Auckland & Depart Depart Rotorua today and make your way north, back to Auckland. On arrival sadly your time in New Zealand comes to an end as you return your rental vehicle to the airport in time to join your onward flight. Here, we bid you a fond farewell to your homeland and hope you leave with many happy memories of your stay in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
